Kromek Group is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the prize for Tech Achievement of the Year at the UK Tech Awards 2016, the ceremony which celebrates success, rewards achievement and raises the profile of the UK tech community.
The annual event was hosted in London on 9 November 2016 and attended by over 800 people. This included tech entrepreneurs and CEOs, corporate advisors, investors, tech consultants and commentators. Now in its sixteenth consecutive year since its launch in 2000, the awards not only include publicly quoted "techMARK" companies on London Stock Exchange’s Main Market, but also AIM tech companies and fast-growing private tech companies.
Kromek won the Tech Achievement of the Year award in acknowledgement of outstanding achievement between 1 October 2015 and 30 September 2016. In particular, Kromek was recognised for being appointed the sole source supplier to deliver its D3S personal radiation detectors in mass volume to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, in support of DARPA’s SIGMA programme to prevent attacks involving radiological "dirty bombs". The voting panel was made up of investors, financial advisors, media experts and business people with specialist knowledge of the tech sector.
Arnab Basu, CEO of Kromek, said: "We’re delighted to have received this award, which reflects the tremendous effort and capability of our team. It also crowns a very successful year for Kromek as we have received a number of industry accolades, achieved commercial milestones and were honoured to have been part of the UK government’s trade mission to India just this week. We look forward to sustaining this momentum into 2017!"
