Detection technology specialist Kromek has secured a worldwide distribution deal with a supplier of nuclear measurement devices.
The County Durham -based innovator has entered into two agreements with US-based CANBERRA Industries Inc for distribution and research and development purposes.
Under the distribution agreement, CANBERRA will become the exclusive global distributor for four types of products in Kromek’s nuclear portfolio.
The two firms will also work to a three-year, collaborative research and development programme – thought to be worth at least $900,000 over the life of the contract.
It will see Kromek and CANBERRA support each other in new product development and customisation of existing products.
Connecticut-based CANBERRA is a supplier of radiation detection equipment and Kromek noted its strong customer relationships in the market.
The firm has been serving nuclear customers for more than five decades, providing technology to main safety, assess the health of nuclear facilities, and safeguard the public and the environment.
It runs production and engineering facilities across the world and employs 950 staff.
